Earth Day 2022
Earth day is an annual event which has been held since 1970. We are now 52 years on from the first ever Earth day and investing in our planet is no longer an option. It’s an urgent necessity.
This year, Earth Day 2022 highlights the pressing need for businesses, governments, and communities to take action on climate change all year long. Together, we must take responsibility and act, because a green future, is a future which is prosperous and equitable.
Invest In Our Planet
This year’s theme is to #InvestInOurPlanet. So, how is House of Sport investing in our planet?
In 2021, we signed up to take part in the Greater London Authority’s (GLA) Business Climate Challenge pilot and committed to reducing energy consumption by at least 10% in a year.
As part of this pioneering initiative, we received:
- Tailored technical advice from Turner & Townsend
- Expert training from the GLA
The guidance and support we received enabled us to analyse and identify how our workspace could reduce its energy consumption.
Our Impact
We are now 7 months into the pilot and are proud to share that we have reduced our energy consumption by 61%!
Importantly, this was achieved without compromising the quality of our office services, or our operational capability.
How can you help?
If your workplace is ready to take action and would like further information on how we achieved this reduction, check out our recent blog. The blog outlines the steps needed to be taken to become a net zero building, as well as simple tips your building users can start implementing today.
Better Bankside are also bidding to the Mayor of London to scale up the Business Climate Challenge. If successful, the pilot will be extended to enable more businesses to take part.
If your business would like to get involved in the 2022-2023 Business Climate Challenge, we would encourage you to complete their Expression of Interest Form.
